The United States dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima Japan on August 6, 1945. Japan wasn't backing down when the Allied Forces began to take down Hitler and this was the U.S.'s way of threatening with this bomb until they surrender. Because Japan wasn't surrendering the U.S. dropped the bomb killing over 80,000 people instantly. The bomb had lots of energy and radiation. Just looking at the bomb from far enough away would've melted your retina and result in blindness. The radiation was as powerful as 100 x-rays and resulted in blisters and body parts slowing down. This was almost "revenge" for the actions Japan made on the day of the Attack on Pearl Harbor. Just 3 days later another bomb was dropped in Nagasaki, where another 80,000 people died. This event was very important because the bombing forced Japan to surrender just 8 days later. It had a large impact in the nuclear weapons field.
