The National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA) was founded through the merger of the National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA) and the American Woman Suffrage Association (AWSA). It started out with a membership of 7000 and led by Susan B. Anthony, but eventually grew to include 2 million, which made it the largest voluntary organization in the country. Its main focus was on attaining female suffrage, and pushed for the passage of the 19th Amendment. With its job accomplished, on February 14, 1920, several months before the amendment's ratification, the NAWSA changed into the League of Women Voters, an organization that exists to this day.
