Software disputers Mark of the Unicorn and Steinberg released music packages, respectively, Digital Performer and CuBase Audio, which produced CD-quality, and utilised the latest digital audiocards. The first version of CuBase ran on the Atari ST computer and recorded via MIDI only. Cubase created projects, that allowed the operator to edit MIDI, raw audio tracks and other associated information such as lyrics.
