The Iranian Revolution also known as the Islamic Revolution began in 1978, when Iran turned from an Absolute Monarchy to an Islamic Republic. After Mohammad Reza Pahlavi; the leader of Iran before it became an Islamic Republic was led to exile, Ayatollah Khomeini became the supreme leader in 1979 after being in exile in France for 14 years. Iran becoming an Islamic Republic impacted the world by creating interest in Islamic spirituality, and politics. It also generated people to feel distrust, and fear towards Muslims.
