3 nov 1854 ano - Cholera Outbreak in London

Descrição:

Cholera is a gastrointestinal infection caused by the bacterium Vibrio Cholerae. In 1854, a mass outbreak of this disease struck the city of London, leaving devastation in its wake. Cholera caused the expulsion of bodily fluids, which in turn led to dehydration. Over 600 people died in London during the outbreak. It was spread through water contamination due to the outdated sewage system, which failed to keep up with the rapid urbanization that occurred throughout London during the Industrial Revolution. The outbreak was stopped by a revolutionary doctor John Snow, who applied the early germ theory towards determining the source of the outbreak to being a contaminated well.
