The French Revolution began in May of 1789 with the meeting of the Estates General (the group that was the head of the Revolution) and ended in 1799 with the establishment of Napoleon Bonaparte as First Consul of France. Over the course of 10 years, the King, the Queen, and countless individuals (many innocent) would fall victim to the Guillotine (an execution device that cut the heads of its victims off) in an event known as the "Reign of Terror)
