Oath of A Freeman was a pledge printed by Puritans that one had to take in order to live in Massachusetts Bay. It enumerated the rights and responsibilities of being a citizen of the colony, and requested that people vote based on their own conscience (though they were never tolerant of worldviews conflicting with their own). It was the first paper printed in English America.
