1556 CE - 1605 CE Akbar was the grandson of Babur, the founded of the Mughal Empire. He is known for his religious tolerance, which led to the distillation of Hinduism in India and encouragement for support of the divine faith, which focused attention on the emperor. He consolidated Mughal power with various military campaigns as well as centralizing his administration. Though he was illiterate, he was incredibly intelligent and had books read to him. (4.3)
