At the same location as the First Battle of Bull Run, this battle occurred in northern Virginia, dangerously close to the Union's capital at D.C. Furthermore, a Confederate victory here led by Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson and Lee scared the Union again because of the proximity to D.C. and continued to make Lincoln tense as none of his generals seemed capable.
