This was an official alliance between Germany and Italy. It was signed by Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, formalizing the 1936 Rome-Berlin Axis agreement which had been informal, linking the two countries politically and militarily. This guaranteed Germany's military for WWII to be backed up by Italy.
