Slavery was still very big in the early middle ages. Most slaves were obtained by plunderings and conquests of different area's. Most slaves were sold to the Muslims in the Mediterranean , as they paid 4 times more then the Carolingian. Christians did oppose to Christians being sold to non-Christians but had nothing against slavery itself.
