The beginning of the White Australia Policy, whereby restrictions were put in place to restriction immigration into Australia. This restriction allowed the government to restricted entry to immigrants based on race. This act also implemented the dictation test. The test restricted those who could not speak English from entering the country. The test was a 50 word passage the participants had to write out.
