At first women had equel rights to men in the religion, like Jesus preached it should be. they were allowed to baptize and hold officiakl positions. Some women either singly or in monastic communities declared themselves 'virgins in the name of Christ'. from the first century onwards this came to change and they were slowly stripped of their positions
