This amendment did NOT prohibit the consumption of alcohol, but rather the sale, manufacturing, and transportation of alcohol. It was the first and only amendment to ever be repealed from the United States Constitution. This created conflict because people actually drank more from it and groups and the Temperance Movement increased divisions among the people.
