3 fev 1870 ano - The Fifteenth Amendment
Descrição:
The Fifteenth Amendment granted male African-Americans the right to vote. Although, voting restrictions were made to prevent African-Americans from voting in elections, mostly within the South. Some examples of voting restrictions that were implemented are literacy tests, poll taxes, grandfather clause, and ownership of property. It took until 1965 to implement legal barriers that would result in punishment at the state and local levels if they denied African-American men the right to vote under the Fifteenth Amendment.
