When people come to retire, hey will generally experience a decrease in income (2). A pension makes up for some of the losses of income during retirement, thus the elder population is strongly dependent on their pensions and tax revenue from the working class. This defining moment in Canadian history meant that all Canadians over 70 are still provided with a steady source of income in retirement till this day.
