Descrição:
The surrender of the Empire of Japan came on September 2nd, 1945 following the destruction of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The emperor could remain as the emperor, but otherwise offered unconditional surrender. The surrender of Japan not only marks the end to the bloodiest war in history, but also cements America’s position as a world superpower. This superpower status, however, brought the United States to the brink of annihilation during the Cold War.
