The bombings of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were completed by the United States in order to end World War 2 quickly. The bombings killed an estimated 240,000 thousand Japanese. This marks the only use of nuclear weapons in a war in history. After these bombings the debate over whether to use nuclear weapons started to develop due to their sheer power.
