The Stock Market Crash of 1929 was a catalyst for the Great Depression during the 1930s. rising Unemployment and rampant speculation led to over priced stocks across the board. With stocks so high, and a somewhat failing economy, the prices did not reflect the actual value of the stocks and financiers began to sell at an alarming rate. In October of 1929 the market crashed and billion of dollars were lost. Within 3 years after 1929 the market had lost 90 percent of its previous value, and the Great Depression was in full swing.
