During WW1, the Germany knew that this would be a failure for them and there were numerous of hardship including food shortage, illnesses, there was a deadly influenza infection spread through Europe since August, 1918, and the most significant reason- casualties. Furthermore, there were many Germans wanted to copy the Russians Revolution 1917, which caused sacrification, and overthrow Kaiser by replacing with councils of workers. Therefore, the new successor, Friedrich Ebert, appointed as Chancellor. By fall 1918, as mentioned that German military leaders realized they couldn’t win WW1, in order to get more favorable terms from their Allies, the urged the liberal Prince Max Von Baden forming another government which was more democratic than kaiser’s monarchy. Unfortunately, since the navy would like to fights, Baden was not able to monitor. In October 1918, German sailors refused to begin a battle that they would likely to lose with the British, they started mutinied against their admirals. This mutiny had triggered states that support German sailors. From October 29, 1918 to August 11, 1919, in Munich, Germany, the revolution began. In the region of Bavaria, south, a communist state was established in the capital Munich. In January 1919 revolution threatened Berlin itself. Chancellor Ebert saw that democratic rule was under threat, so he called in the German army and the Freikorps (ex-soldiers who banded together to form small private armies). They crushed the revolution in Munich and executed the leaders. In this revolution, there were 2 million troops were lost, 6.3 million Germans wounded, and many citizens were died of flu, starvation, hypothermia. Min- 1919, Weimar, a new government, were agreed and Germany became known as the Weimar Republic. => agree armistice on November 11, 1918. Although Chancellor Ebert used the army and the Freikorps to crush the Bavarian communists, there were still revolutionaries in other German cities, and fear of revolution still threatened peace in Germany. This revolution means the loss of the not democratic emperor, however, people weren’t happy with the government because the Treaty of Versailles was too severe, harsh; moreover, the overall living conditions also hadn’t improved and the famine was continuing. According to S Lee, “ too much continuity with past.” In conclusion, the November Revolution was significant to mentioned, annotated because it was great influential to German including their economy, populations, and resources. As mentioned, Germany had lose millions of residents during the revolution; this could be a difficulty for them to fight other battles due to lack of soldiers and supplies.
