Throughout Chapter 9, the Little Rock Nine and the NAACP are in a court session in discussion of the first attempt of integration. Governor Faubus isn't there, but his lawyers do try to make things sound violent, and everyone else agrees with no physical contact ever happening on the streets. A few days after, the nine students prepare for their official first day.
