The announcement of names to integrate Central High School were at seventeen, but it was quickly lowered to nine because of threats. The Little Rock Nine included Melba Pattillo Beals, Ernest Green, Elizabeth Eckford, Jefferson Thomas, Minniejean Brown, Carolotta Walls, Gloria Ray, Thelma Mothershed, and Terrence Roberts
