I ate some dates, which my family usually gets from Sudan (whenever my family or family firends are on vacation, we make sure to bring back dates, as they are not native to Canada). As I mentioned, this delicious fruit is not native to Canada, and thus can only be obtained from overseas. Also, dates are mentioned numerously in the quran, and thus it is essentially part of my culture and religion to eat such a fruit. I would not be able to eat this fruit had globalization not existed, as this time, we had purchased these dates from an Arabic grocery store which imports such dates from Morocco and Algeria, to name a few countries.
