- Working memory is what is currently available to us from our knowledge of the world
- Idea of activation like Ericsson but focussed on attention instead
- Attention moves around activated LTM but the focus of attention only holds 4 items
- Strategies such as chunking can lead to a higher memory capacity (support from LTM)
- LTM support means that our memory for sequences of words is better vs. non-words
