It is a Supreme Court case where Homer Plessy refused to vacate a rail car going from New Orleans to Covington, Louisiana after being told to leave. He was then arrested. Homer filed a petition against presiding judge John H. Ferguson because it violated equal protection under the 14th amendment. 7-1 in favor for Ferguson. The court upheld that the 14th amendment only applied to political and civil rights not social rights like sitting in a train car. He was convicted. Separate but equal was consitutional in trian cars.
