Zimmerman note is a coded telegram in 1917 that German foreign minister Arthur Zimmerman sent the German minister in Mexico proposing that if the U.S. enters the war Mexico and Germany should become Allies. This event also helped influence the U.S. to declare war on Germany five weeks later.
