Pope Leo was the first pope in the modern sense. Under his leadership, Attila the Hun turned away from attacking Rome. His “Tome” was written to help settle Christological controversy between Eutychianism and Nestorianism in setting the limits beyond which we fall into error when talking about Christ’s divinity and humanity.
