The Hayden Planetarium was founded in 1935 as a lighthouse for people interested in astronomy and astrophysics. Tyson came here often as a young teen and it helped him delve deeper into his passion. Obviously becoming the director of a place that helped shape his life was incredibly big for Tyson.
