In 1766, after a year of rebellion, the British finally repealed the Stamp Act, and pass the Declaratory Act, which was passed in order to show the colonies that even though they might've had the power to repeal an act, the Parliament still had authority over every colony.
The next year, the Townshend Acts were passed, which put taxes on glass, tea, paper and many other things. This also sparked uproar and rebellion.
