Description: The United States entered the Mexican War with Mexico primarily due to the desire of land westward by most of the population.
Causes: Many southern states wanted more slave states in the United States in order to tip the balance of the country in the South's favor.
Impact: The United States bought (for a cheap price) half of Mexico’s territories in the interest of Manifest Destiny.
