The colony of Jamestown was founded in late April in 1607 by the Virginia Company, as it was seen as an economic venture in an age of exploration and colonization.

Causes: The main drives for the establishment of Jamestown were for economic gains, but also a desire for more power as most of Europe was currently undergoing exploration and colonization of territories all around the world, King James I did not want to leave England out of the picture.

Social Impact: This was the first event of migration for the people of England, when the passengers arrived,totally to just over 100, they were in the midst of 14,000 Native Americans which would lead to many interactions such as trade, racial tensions, and warfare.
