1 jan 1962 ano - James Watson, Francis Crick, & Maurice Wilkins: Nobel Prize
Descrição:
James Watson spent a lot of his time working with DNA at the University of Cambridge, along with his partner and office buddy Francis Crick. In 1953, together they built the first accurate model of the structure of DNA.
Maurice Wilkins studied biological molecules such as DNA and viruses using a variety of microscopes and spectrophotometers as well as x-rays.
In 1962, Wilkins, a colleague of Rosalind, had shown Photo 51 (responsible for identifying the double helical structure of DNA, taken by Rosalind Franklin) to James Watson and Francis Crick without Franklin's knowledge. It was only after this photo the team had realized DNA's structure, but all of them got unrightfully credited with it's discovery and got rewarded the Nobel Prize.
It wasn't until after Franklin passing that it had become clear that the photo was her discovery, so she never got the Nobel Prize or credit for her work.
Additionally, James and Francis also worked along with Erwin Chargaff, and were credited for his work with DNA as well through the Nobel Prize, while Erwin too was overlooked.
