On April 4th, 1968, while standing on the balcony of his Memphis hotel, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated by James Earl Ray. He was the face of the civil rights movement and a preacher of non-violent protest. His murder outraged the nation, as riots broke out in hundreds of cities when they caught word of his death. The legacy of MLK lives on today as we celebrate MLK Day, as well as look at him as one of the most influential leaders ever.
