On November 22nd, 1963, while riding in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas, President John F. Kennedy was fatally shot by Lee Harvey Oswald. President Kennedy’s death shocked and saddened the nation as Kennedy was a very popular president. In addition, many people were scared because at the time the United States were in the Cold War, and they suspected Kennedy’s assassination was part of an attack. Lyndon B. Johnson became president upon Kennedy’s death.
