On this day the first text message was sent. The first text messages only allowed 150 characters to be sent and no photos could be sent either. Text messaging has come a long way since then and in 2002 T-Mobile created the first text messaging service that could send photos. 2007 was the first year when text messages received exceeded phone calls.
