It was a hit in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, reaching No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 13 in the UK, in addition to topping the US R&B and dance charts. It was parodied as "Roaches" by Bobby Jimmy and the Critters, also released in 1986.
