The Jewish sector of the mandate was much more developed. Between 1930-35, the Jewish population nearly doubled in size, becoming one third of the Palestinian mandate population. By 1936, Jewish individuals earned twice as much as their Arab counterparts. The Jewish literacy rate stood at 86%, while the Arab literacy rate stood at a measly 22%. Finally, the growth rate of the Jewish sector of the mandate was 13.2 per cent, while Arabs stood at only 6.5 per cent.
