23 jun 1979 ano - Gaia Hypothesis
Descrição:
James Lovelock put forward the idea that Earth is a self-regulating system. This hypothesis postulates that Earth utilizes feedback systems to maintain conditions that create an atmosphere that is suitable for the existence of life as we know it. Earth maintains a continual balance of the salinity in the ocean, atmospheric conditions, surface temperature, etc. as it’s homeostasis. Although this idea receives plenty of healthy scrutinization and skepticism, it posits an idea that requires plenty of scientific data to prove its case.
