The death of Stalin was a massive event as even with his oppressive ways he was very popular in Russia and with him gone the country was in mourning along with a small succession crisis. Though it had much more far reaching implications as Chairman Mao of China thought he was the natural leader of Communism now though Russia disagreed. this led to a rift between the two communist powers.
