11 jan 1935 ano - Bank of Canada opening

Descrição:

Due to lack of faith in Canada’s banking system after the great depression, the idea that Canada should have a central bank was brought up and that was eventually passed.
In March 1935, the bank was opened, and the property was rented in the Victoria Building on Wellington street in Ottawa.
Governor Graham F Towers proposed the design, Prime Minister Mackenzie King approved the design and bought the building. S.G Davenport was hired as the consulting architect and adviser, who recommended that the Law Firm of Marani, Lawson and Morris were hired principal architects.
With the introduction of a better banking system, Canada’s economy was in a better state, and people wouldn’t have to worry about another economic crash as big as the previous one.
