A document was written from the colonist to the king of Britain cutting ties. Thomas Jefferson was the main writer of the Declaration of Independence. He was inspired by John Locke's ideas which was life, liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Over 56 people signed the document including Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and John Adams.
