The Sons of Liberty were founded on August 14, 1765. They were a group of colonists who created a secret society that opposed British laws such as the taxation and their government, they also played a role when trying to repeal the Stamp Act. The main founders were Samuel Adams and John Hancock. Their initial purpose was to progress the rights for colonists and fight off the unfair taxation.
