Phineas being able to read the future makes a gamble with Percy. One vial of gorgon's blood kills, and one heals nearly anything. Phineas takes the gamble because it can cure his blindness. Phineas writes Hubbard Glacier, where Thanatos is and chooses the wrong vial because Percy made Gaea influence Phineas. Gaea thinks Percy is a more valuable pawn than Phineas to her.
