During the Battle of the Bulge in December of 1944, the Allied powers push back Germany as they attack. This leads to the defeat of the Nazis and Germany surrenders in May of 1945. The Soviets reached Berlin and Hitler committed suicide. The next day, May 8, 1945, is referred to as V-E Day, meaning "Victory in Europe".
