The Stamp Act led to many of Britain's tax collectors to be terrorized by the colonist in an act of protest. The trauma from the attacks were so scaring to the tax collectors to point where they just straight up quit their jobs just to avoid the trauma. The act was soon later repealed but it only got worse for the colonist from there.
