Henry Cavendish was an English natural philosopher, scientist, and an important experimental and theoretical chemist and physicist. Cavendish is noted for his discovery of hydrogen or what he called "inflammable air". He found hydrogen by mixing metal with acid, which produced a flammable gas, which was later named hydrogen. With more experiments he found that his gas would burn oxygen and create water, and until that time water was still considered to be an element. He was correct with his theory.
