Martin Luther King, Jr was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee on the 4th of April, 1968 which was an event that sent waves of horror around the world. A Baptist minister and founder of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, King had led the civil rights movement since the 1950s, using a combination of powerful and moving speeches and nonviolent protests to fight racial segregation. His assassination led to a deluge of rage among many African Americans.
