Through the California Public Schools Accountability Act of 1999, statewide standardized testing is developed and adopted under the name STAR testing. Administered every Spring, it was comprised of 4 parts: Mathematics, Science, History, and English. This was the birth of standardized testing in the state of California. "The primary objective of the PSAA was to help schools improve the academic achievement of all students ". This has since been replaced with the current standard " California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) System" (Standardized Testing).
