From 1880 to 1910, nearly 15 million immigrants entered the US. They settled in many places across the US. Many of the immigrants came from Southern or Eastern Europe. Included in these immigrants were: 2 and a half million Italians and about 2 million Jews, as well as Poles, Hungarians, Austrians, Greeks, and others. Many people believed these new immigrants were unfit for labor or American citizenship into the US. Many sought restrictions on immigration.
