Perhaps however, what this WRC will most likely and unfairly be remembered for was the unfortunate spreading of an unknown virus that rendered many attendee’s and presenters unable to participate. The board reacted as soon as reports came in that a virus was spreading amongst the attendees, purchasing hand sanitizer and wipes for all common areas and educating people as to the need to wash hand sanitizer care for themselves. Things got bad enough that the Health Department was called in and at least one media outlet reported on it. By all accounts the hosting committee did a great job adapting to illnesses and keeping people informed, and there seems to be little more the committee could have done to limit or minimize the spreading of this virus beyond canceling the WRC entirely.
